I blow hot and cold on Tori. Sometimes I think she is a genius, then I think that she is just plain weird for the sake of being weird. If she never had a hit I don't think I'd miss her, but when I hear a song I like I tend to sind along... Bit of a strange one is our Tori!!!

She has a wonderful voice. Her version of "I Don't Like Mondays" is incredibly powerful. Immensely talented-- and I'm thinking we've only just scratched the surface.

At best, imagine if Joni Mitchell had about one eighth the talent that Mitchell at her best had and was constantly having her period.

She has had some good songs along the way, but most of her celebrity appears to be based on cult appeal. Her abilities on the piano are genuine, but she seems to be limited to the same dour pop. Her vocal style is tiresome, as is her compulsion to tell the listener more than they need to know understand her stories. Is she even she aware that her grasping is conspicuous? Her fanatics are obviously too far in to notice.

i go back and forth with Tori Amos. there are songs and albums of hers (boys for pele) that i am particularly fond of. but on the whole i'm just not interested in her as an artist. she's flighty, and i understand that is a selling point to Amos' fans, but for me that just makes a lot of 6 or 7 minute songs that meander on past my point of interest. she does do a great cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Tori Amos has created some of the most complex music out there, both musically and lyrically. Some people who listen to her for the first time experience a sort of catharsis. There is just no other way to explain it. For example, when she sings about bad junior high experiences (we've all had them) in the song Precious Things, she transports the listener back to junior high, but with new insight and a sense of power. I don't think Tori has ever released any bad music; the worst she has ever done is very good, and her best is superbly, extraordinarily brilliant, almost ethereal. I fell in LOVE with her music upon hearing her earliest work back in the early 1990s. I saw her play live twice; once in Chicago and once at Purdue University on Halloween. Awe-inspiring, unforgettable and unbelievable! No two Tori Amos shows are the same.

At one point of my life, Tori was my life. I absolutely identified with the song 'Precious Things'. I don't listen to her as much anymore, but I still buy her new albums whenever they come out as a gratitude for helping me grow up and live through bad things happening to me.

I was too young to know much about Tori Amos when she was at her height, and I hear her personal life was pretty good material for stand-up comedians a while back, but musically she's got a remarkable voice.

Tori isn't meant to be accessable by all. That's what makes her Tori. She's music beyond music--thoughtful, powerful, music. Not this crap you hear on the radio that all sounds the same.

I love Tori. She puts on a great show. She puts out great music. She gives back to her community and as far as i am concerned she has always puts out art for the ears. I think its either love or hate most times when it comes to her music. I for one am a lover.

Meh. Used to be a great vocalist but now her voice is groggy and has lost its range. Her new music has become clogged with silly lyrics and synthesizers. She needs a new producer!

I love Tori... she doesn't always write songs that are immediately accessible and I think that makes it more interesting...from Little Earthquakes to Scarlet's Walk, shes constantly changing and experimenting with new things, but the constant elements are her piano and unique voice. She's never folded to the pressures of being a "pop-star" but still manages to sell records and be a true artist..Keep it up Tori!

Fantastic singer-songwriter! Must be seen live to fully appreciate how much extraordinary talent this woman has. I've bought every CD she's ever released since I was in High School and first heard "Silent all These Years" and there's not one song on any of those albums that I don't love. Truly a gifted artist.

I fell in love with Tori about ten seconds into her video for "Silent All These Years." I think I was a sophomore in high school. When I heard that voice, and saw that georgeous face, it was all over. Easily the most talented (and haunted) singer-songwriter of her generation, Tori's music has a message that appeals not only to the women and gay men who make-up the majority of her fanbase, but even to jock frat-boys like myself - as long as they have an intelligent, sensitive bone in their bodies. If you are new to Tori, I suggest buying her debut solo album "Little Eartquakes." If you like Earthquakes, you'll like everything else.

How can people NOT like Tori? That's what I want to know! She is amazing ~ awesomely gifted with the piano and her vocal strength. Her lyrics may be puzzles, but once you solve them they represent so much more than you could have ever dreamed of. She flies over the ivory keys. She has found her place in this world. I myself think she is one of the few musicians out there who is actually a Musician ... cult appeal? money scam? no vocal talent? Don't pay any attention to that. Just listen to "Little Earthquakes." For a first CD it's remarkable. If there is cult appeal, I have not heard anything about it. She is geniune, honest, and strikingly visual in her lyrics ... her music represents the finest quality with the gorgeous melodies, catchy beats, and the flow of the piano - Her piano - that makes it all complete. Money scam? If she wanted to make money, she could just become a pop singer with mechanical backup. However, she has chosen the better route: her own Personal music with Her Own voice and Her Own music and Her Own lyrics. No vocal talent? Just listen to "Me and a Gun," track 11 of "Little Earthquakes." Even without her amazing piano accompaniment, or any other instruments, she sounds fabulous. I am fifteen years old. I own all of her CDs, even the very latest, "Strange Little Girls." I am proud that I am an adolescent and not listening to mechanical pop stars. Instead, I am listening to a wonderful musician, with an impossible amount of talent. My wish is to be like her one day. Please, listen to her music with an open ear that is willing. You will find in no time the spirit and power she posesses in her music. Then come and rate her because people are getting the wrong image by the 50% Terrible on the right hand side of your screen. Peace out ... and Please listen!

I've slowly but surely fallen in love with Tori Amos, starting with the absolutly AMAZING 'Boys For Pele'. I heard "Caught a Lite Sneeze" and it touched me in an indescribable way. I moved on to "Blood Roses", "Professional Widow", "Muhammed My Friend", and "Mr. Zebra" and was likewise touched. I bought "From the Choirgirl Hotel" and totally became enraptured by "Cruel". I listen to it every day and love it more every time I listen to it. "Little Earthquakes"(loving Crucify right now) and "Under the Pink"(loving Cornflake girl) are amazing albums as well. But what has this woman done that wasn't totally unique and outstanding? She is a role model for every woman out there, with her strength and immense talent. Listen to her music..you will be as blown away as I was.

Tori is the first to produce music in the 90's that is made for women. Her muscle is through her talent and poetry, not through looks or what attracts the easier "main stream" audience, but the effect on her fans is much greater: may seem like a cult following, I don't really think so. Her music is deeply thought out and sincere. Her music IS difficult to get, she is inspired by mythology and African women writers- I didn't see it until I had a few classes in college. Her music is such a relief to listen to when anyone else is "dancing with blood on their sneakers to Bonnie and Clyde" (Bonnie and Clyde- from Eminem).

Her music certainly doesn't appeal to everyone since it's not mainstream(quite cooky sometimes even)but that's what attracts me to it. Her style is so unique and different, she doesn't bring anything out I dislike.

I've always been a great fan of Tori's work! But after hearing songs like "a 1000 Oceans" on her "To Venus and Back" Album, I'm afraid that she'll lose her independence as a songwriter (including the sence of "romance" that comes along with it ans her piano)!!! Anyways, I'll still buy her records. So many songs have accompanied me through rough times, as they did to many other fans! Some texts are still haunting me and it's astonishing like several fitted so perfectly to situations I'd experienced! Btw, there are so many, many songs out there I've never even heard of because they're not on the general records and I've no chance to get to them ('cause I life in Germany and my PC sux, so I can't download Nepster etc.) PS: I knoe, sometimes her voice cracks up but that's her kind of style folks! Even when se's sneezing the National Hymn it'd sound right to me:-) Tori's the BEST!!!!:-)
